Calendar doesn’t work in the Canvas App for iPad

There are two things that seem to work to fix this, and a third to try if the first two don’t work:

But first: Make sure that you have one or more classes checked in your calendar. By default none of your classes are checked, so you won’t see anything in your calendar.

  1. Go to the Calendar section of the app.
  2. Click on the “calendars” link.
  3. Check all of your classes.
  4. Click the “done” link.
  5. Pull down to refresh your calendar.

NOTE: The latest version of the Student Canvas app seems to have a problem showing the calendar on older version of iOS. You might want to update your iPad before you go on, And if you have an older iPad, the options below might not fix your device.

Option 1: delete & install

Note: You need to be able to install apps on your iPad for this to work.

  1. Click and hold on the Student Canvas app until the option to delete the app comes up.
  2. Delete the Student Canvas app.
  3. Go to the App Store and reinstall the Student Canvas app.

Option 2: reset the cache

  1. Go to settings on your iPad.
  2. Scroll down until you come to the Canvas Student app. Hint: they are in alphabetical order.
  3. Click on the Student Canvas app.
  4. On the right, slide the “Reset cache on next launch” slider so that it is green.
  5. Leave settings and relaunch the Student Canvas app. Note: You’ll have to search for LL and sign back into your account DO NOT search for Lincoln Lutheran (it will make you sign in every time).

Option 3: the nuclear option

Note: You need to be able to install apps on your iPad for this to work.

  1. Click and hold on the Student Canvas app until the option to delete the app comes up.
  2. Delete the Student Canvas app.
  3. Restart your iPad/iPhone by holding down whatever weird key apple is using now until you see “Slide to restart”. You might have to google, “How to reboot my iPad“. Go ahead and slide.
  4. Go to the App Store and reinstall the Student Canvas app. Do not open the app yet!
  5. Before you open the app:
  6. Go to settings on your iPad.
  7. Scroll down until you come to the Canvas Student app. Hint: they are in alphabetical order.
  8. Click on the Student Canvas app.
  9. On the right, slide the “Reset cache on next launch” slider so that it is green.
  10. Leave settings and relaunch the Student Canvas app. Note: You’ll have to search for LL and sign back into your account DO NOT search for Lincoln Lutheran (it will make you sign in every time).
